Identifying Customer Needs
Angela Garcia (35 years old)
Needs an app that can help manage her parents’ medications since they don’t speak English and are not tech-savvy.
Would like to be alerted if there are product recalls.
Chris Rogers (42 years old)
Has a kid with special needs who needs to take multiple medications, so he needs an app where he can easily add multiple medications instead of a manual process.
Angie Stevens (39 years old)
Needs an app that allows her to add more than 5 family members since she has 7 children, and needs to have reliable drug interaction information.
Zara Miller (33 years old)
She has a parent who is ill and needs special attention, and she has children as well.
She needs an app that can help her manage multiple reminders and alerts.
Elena Smith (27 years old)
She only manages medications for herself, but needs an app that has an easy and faster way to input medication.
Eric Martinelli (49 years old)
Needs an app where he can manage his family’s medications and have an easy way to load information.
Ideally, it would be connected to the pharmacy.
Concept Generation
Concept Selection
We focused on selecting the most effective concepts related to medication management.
Our primary reference concept was manual data entry, as this is the most widely used method.
Other alternatives include taking a picture and uploading a photo, scanning a barcode, or integrating with a pharmacy.
Metrics & Specifications
Some metrics are strictly specific to each need, while other metrics could also be used to measure how well we are addressing the needs.
For example, measuring customer complaints would give us a better indication of what is working or lacking in our medication app.
Product Architecture
Prototype
A prototype is used to demonstrate the user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) flow for a better understanding of how the mobile app works, and to see how users will navigate through the key features, such as signing up, managing health tracking, adding medications, setting reminders, and connecting family profiles to healthcare providers.
